We offer a professional counselling service with trained counsellors focusing on your needs and concerns. Our counsellors are trained to offer help and support with a range of issues including abuse and trauma (both current and historical), family concerns, relationship difficulties and issues around wellbeing health.
Can we help

A counselling session is usually one hour and can be extended as required.  Counselling is an ongoing process and outcomes may bring unexpected changes. If you have any concerns please feel free to discuss this with us.

Cancellations : If you are unable to keep your appointment, it is essential that you notify us within 24 hours prior to your session time.

Confidentiality : Our counsellors record only information that is factual and helpful for clients. We do not disclose client information without client permission except when we believe a person is at risk of harming self or others, when required by law or during professional supervision (Refer Privacy Act 1993, principle 11).

Complaints : If you are not satisfied with the service you receive from any staff member of this agency please discuss this with them or contact the agnecy to speack with the manager.

We want and need to know, if you have any concerns regarding the standard of service you received from Otamatea Community Services. You have the right to make a formal complaint to the manger or Chairperson. Our Reception will give you the necessary form to assist you. You are welcome to have a support person throughout any of this process.

Our Team

Our OCS counsellors are trained professionals with a heart for working in the community supporting families and individuals toward achieving their goals.

Bob George

Counsellor/Psychologist

Bob is a qualified psychologist who joined our team of counsellors bringing with him his knowledge and experience working in the mental health field. He enjoys working within the community supporting its members to better understand their life journey and achieve progress toward their chosen goals.

Bridget Jochems

Counsellor

Bridget is one of our team of counsellors available to discuss your needs and support you through counselling. She is in her final stages of becoming fully qualified and is a provisional member with New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). Bridget brings her experience and background in education combined with her counselling skills to support others within the community toward a better future.

Lorna Hanson

Counsellor

Lorna has many years of experience working with clients impacted by a range of life's issues including family harm, mental health, relationship difficulties as well as working with children experiencing difficulties coping with their situations. Lorna is a fully qualified member of NZAC and is committed to improving her level of practice for the benefit of the clients she works with.
